Pre-convention workshop
Corrective Exercise Continuum (Personal Training)
Inhibition, Lengthening, Activation, and Integration are the key components of any successful Corrective Exercise program. Collectively they are known as the Corrective Exercise Continuum. This Pre-con provides solutions for lower-extremity, lumbo-pelvic-hip, and upper-extremity postural distortion patterns. Attendees will emerge with a thorough understanding of the physiological basis and scientific rationale for each component along with how to manipulate the acute variables to ensure their client’s success.
Part I : Inhibition, Lengthening (2-hour)
Inhibition is the first component in this series. Inhibitory techniques (Self-Myofascial Release) are used to release tension and/or decrease activity of overactive neuro-myofascial tissues in the body.
Lengthening follows Inhibition as the second component of this four part series. Lengthening techniques (Static and Neuromuscular Stretching) are used to increase the extensibility, length, and range of motion (ROM) of neuro-myofascial tissues. Research demonstrates the use of inhibitory techniques combined with lengthening techniques yields better results when compared to lengthening techniques alone.
A1-PT2(E) │ 20 March (Friday)│ 13:00 – 15:00
Part II : Activation and Integration (2-hour)
The third part in this series is Activation. Activation techniques (Positional Isometrics and Active Isolated Strengthening) are used to reeducate and/or increase activation of under-active tissues.
Integration is the final piece of this four part puzzle. Integration techniques (Dynamic Movement) are used to retrain the collective synergistic function of all muscles through functionally progressive movements.

Using an Integrated Approach to Program Design (Personal Training)
Learn to create a purposeful system that will systematically progress any client to any goal. Attendee’s will learn how to manipulate acute variables to achieve specific adaptations as well as implement an integrated training plan that includes stabilization, strength, and power workouts. Topics include Flexibility, Core, Balance, Reactive, Resistance, Cardio-respiratory, SAQ Training in the program design of clients at all levels.
B3-PT13(E) │ 21 March (Saturday)│ 15:00 – 16:30
Bodyweight Training - where perception meets Reality (Personal Training)
Perception: In order to design a resistance training program with any of the following goal(s): increasing lean body mass, improving force production, increasing muscle definition or increasing muscular endurance, my clients must have access to Free Weights, Dumbbells, and Machines.
Reality: One can actually design a successful resistance training program that fulfills the previously mentioned goals using only bodyweight resistance.
This dual format session will explain the benefits, advantages, limiting factors, proper progression, and how to prevent injuries. Immediately following the lecture, participants will participate in a series of bodyweight training exercises.
B4-PT15(E)│ 21 March (Saturday)│ 16:50-18:20
Advanced Applications for Seasoned Professionals (Personal Training)
This session will provide attendees an in-depth look at the physical properties of Elastic Resistance as well as how to design advanced multi-planar training programs to meet the needs and goals of the ever changing populations we work with. Participants will take part in a fun and dynamic elastic resistance workout.
B3-PT14(E/C) │ 22 March (Saturday)│ 13:30-16:50
