Lisa Westlake is a fitness instructor, physiotherapist and a highly regarded national and international presenter. She combines over 20 years of experience to provide fun, effective exercise programs for people of all ages and fitness levels. Lisa is a best selling author and was awarded Australian Fitness Leader of the year in 2000 and Australian Presenter of the year in 2003. Lisa passionately spreads the world on health and fitness and is often regarded as the Australian pioneer of fit-ball.

Pre-convention workshop

Fitball for back health (Rehabilitation)
Join Lisa to discover the reasons why so many people experience back pain. She will discuss the theory behind back health and rehabilitation, and the role of exercise in managing or preventing back injury. You will workshop a range of fitball exercises that vary from gentle and therapeutic to stronger options for those people who simply wish to keep their back in action. Lisa put theory and practical together by taking you through a therapeutic back health class as she teaches in Australia.

Exercise for Women at Different Stages (Personal Training – Special Population)
Identify key issues relating to significant stages of life for exercising females. Join Lisa to consider important physical and psychological considerations for females during adolescence, pregnancy, motherhood and menopause. Lisa will discuss the importance of exercise during these times and workshop exercises that are particularly important for each age and stage. For those who are interested in exercises for pregnancy, don’t miss out Lisa’s double sessions on “Exercise for Pregnancy”.

Combine a fit ball, a pair of drums sticks, inspiring music and aerobic moves to create a unique workout with an amazing difference! Get on the ball to stretch, relax and release. Mobility, flexibility and relaxation unite in a unique session that uses the power of music, the magic of movement, breath and soothing relaxation to relax your body and calm your mind.  Whether you wish to experience fitball mobility and stretches for your classes or clients, explore various relaxation techniques or you simply want to unwind this session is for you.

Exercise for Pregnancy (Personal Training - Special Populations)
With sound knowledge and appropriate modifications, instructors can assist women to benefit and enjoy from exercising during the childbearing year.
Join Lisa for an informative and practical session where she will explain the physical and psychological consequences of pregnancy that underlie the “Do’s and don’ts” of pre and post natal exercise programming. Learn about the changes that occur during pregnancy and discover appropriate exercise modifications that allow pregnant women to safely exercise during this special time.
Bring your questions or concerns about working with pregnant women and leave feeling confident and happy to cater for pregnant women in your classes and PT programs. You will also be able to participate in an exercise and pregnancy class to provide you with practical examples and teaching techniques.
